Learn ways to cope with the stress of caregiving
What You Should Know
Caregiving is hard: 88% of caregivers report increased stress or anxiety, and 77% say sleep deprivation is an issue. You may not think you need help coping now, but you probably do — and you almost certainly will. Talk therapy can help. Support groups are extremely helpful and may cost little or nothing. Some find that exercise helps them de-stress. Many turn to yoga and/or meditation to help them cope. Find something that works for you.
Steps To Take
- Find your coping methods and stick with them.
- Consider joining a caregiver support group at your place of worship or community center.
- See if your health insurance will cover counseling.
